INTERNSHIP/FIELD PLACEMENT
OPPORTUNITY
PSYCHOTHERAPY INTERN
Evolve Therapy is a Field Placement/Practicum Site for Therapists in Training.

Evolve Therapy accepts applications for a Psychotherapy Intern/Marriage and Family Therapist Practicum Field Placement on a rolling basis.
THE POSITION
This staff position is open to pre-licensed clinicians during their degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy. The position is meant for individuals on the licensure track in the State of Minnesota who have an interest and background in providing psychotherapy services to families and couples, based on the approach of Emotionally Focused Therapy.

In addition to the provision of psychotherapy services, opportunities are part of the position, writing blogs on psychotherapy, assisting at community presentations, workshops, and training events.

The site offers a stipend for the cost of Emotionally Focused Training. If the trainee sees clients for more than 10 sessions per week an additional stipend is offered.
​
This position is designed for clinicians seeking practicum experience that is supervised work for degree completion and eventual licensure. This position is designed to prepare the master’s level trainee to assume the professional responsibilities of a clinical or counseling psychologist or Marriage and Family Therapy with specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy.

This position will start as soon as is feasible as a part-time position with the expectation to grow into a full- time practice over the course of the first 3 to 6 months.

Prior entry-level training in or exposure to Emotionally Focused Therapy is preferred. Some graduate-level exposure to attachment-based therapy approaches is required. Participation in an ICEEFT-sponsored 4-Day Externship, a graduate course with an emphasis in attachment-based therapy approaches and/or Emotionally Focused Therapy, or clinical experience under the supervision of an EFT therapist is required and will be paid by the site. Payment for the ICEEFT 4-day Externship and the 4 Core Skills weekends will be provided as compensation for the practicum or field experience.

Trainees are expected to video- or audio- tape psychotherapy sessions with their clients’ written permission, and their work and recordings will be reviewed weekly during clinical supervision with Renee Segal, Supervisor. Trainees can expect to have and other staff members at Evolve Therapy review tapes during consultation groups.
​
One hour of individual supervision is provided on a weekly basis and one-hour team consultation/supervision is provided on a biweekly basis. An additional option of community group supervision on a monthly basis be available. Supervision hours will be increased commensurate with caseload.

Trainee must commit to working at least one evening a week and/or a weekend day.

Participation of an-accredited doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy/Mental Health graduate degree.

A declared statement of licensure attainment.

Must be available at least on evening and/or a Saturday.

Must be highly motivated and flexible.
-
Compliance with respective Minnesota Licensing Board rules and documentation related to pursuit of degree completion.

Evidence of high level of professionalism within the field and strong clinical judgement.

Experience in working with families and couples and individuals a plus.

Ability to maintain a full caseload, defined as a minimum of 5-7 outpatient contact hours per week.

Expressed desire and/or prior experience in professional activities in addition to psychotherapy, including research, professional presentations, group facilitation and teaching, and similar.

Agreement to video- or audio- tape (with their clients’ written permission) and review clinical work and recordings routinely in supervision with Renee Segal, MA, LMFT.

Trainee may not work for another private practice.

Carrying a psychotherapy caseload as defined by Evolve Therapy.

Availability to meet clients during times assigned Evolve Therapy with a minimum of 1 evenings per week.

Ability to attend Evolve team meetings, supervision meetings, and other meetings as required and scheduled by Evolve.

Ability to conduct supervised practice with families, couples, and adult individuals.

Compliance with Evolve Therapy documentation standards, maintenance of clinical records.

Compliance with Minnesota licensing board rules, APA code of Ethics, and Minnesota DHS regulations and guidelines.

Ability to stay up to date on billing responsibilities and discussing any financial or billing issues with clients when necessary.

Adherence to directives by direct clinical supervisors.
