DEAN HADLAND
Marriage and Family Therapy Intern
At the heart of my work is a belief in the power of human connection. Whether we are working one-on-one or within the context of a relationship, Emotionally Focused Therapy explores the ways our bonds shape us, how they build us up, how they break us down, and how they can ultimately be repaired. I am drawn to couples therapy because our closest relationships hold the greatest potential for transformative love, emotional safety, and unconditional belonging, yet they can also be the source of our deepest pain, evoking shame, fear, and disconnection. Helping couples navigate these emotional landscapes, repair ruptures, and move toward more secure, fulfilling connections is the most important endeavor I can be a part of.
While my passion for relational work runs deep, I greatly value individual therapy. I love providing a place that is just for you. A place where you can explore the full range of who you are, your questions, your pain, and your growth with someone who is fully present and attuned to your experience. Whatever challenges or complications you are facing, you deserve empathy, compassion, and support as you navigate them. My role as a therapist is to honor your story and engage with you in ways that you determine are most helpful. In our work, I’ll actively be reflecting on your experience, discovering underlying needs and desires, and uncovering the path toward growth. Whether you are pursuing individual or couple therapy, together, we’ll be cultivating honesty, insight, and healing.
Before becoming an Emotionally Focused Therapist, I spent a decade in the human services field, supporting individuals and families through mental health struggles, housing instability, addiction, and crisis. I’ve also had the privilege of facilitating men’s groups for several years, focusing on issues I’m passionate about such as the impacts of pornography and the emotional isolation socialized into men.
As a personal introduction, I’m married and am passionate about deepening the connection with those around me. I’m a writer, film buff, and avid traveler who’s always curious about the way culture and story shape us.
I hope that, through our work together, therapy becomes an asset to you, a place that makes you feel more connected, seen, and empowered in your ability to create the life you desire.
